Cabins

CABIN 1: WEENIE HUT JR'S

Opens into a hallway, split between two rooms: girls on the left, boys on the right. This is also the only cabin with central heating. And a toilet. Campers say it's haunted, but that's probably so they can scare eleven-year-olds.

Colin on the bus

It's another beeeeeeyoooouuuuuutiful year at Camp Pioneer! Oop, wouldja look at that, it rhymes! It's a beautiful yeaaaaar at Camp Pioneeeeeer... [Sings.] ... and we couldn't be more thrilled to see all those excited, fresh young faces looking back at us! The weather's looking great, the birds are chirping, and I hear the fish are bitin', if anyone's so inclined!

I see a few familiar faces on this bus here... who's that? It looks like we got... uh... Benjamin O'Donnell back for his last and final year here as a Pioneer, ready to be a good role model for our campers, isn't that right, Mr O'Donnell? The outhouses are staying in one piece this year, alright? We're also welcoming back Tiger Pham-Fernandez, whose daddy is very generous to Camp Pioneer, and Mis- Mr- Mx- de la Fontaine, who hopefully won't oversleep morning activities again this year! [Winks.]

We've got a big, beautiful map here on the wall, showing where everyone's from. Come up and take a look throughout the summer, and you'll see how you've got neighbors from far and wide!

Campers come from all over the United States to attend the prestigious log halls of Camp Pioneer. This year, it's a toss-up for who's had the longer plane ride: Rhett Teruko joins us from chilly Alaska, and River Quinn-Demaree is from the sunny beaches of Honolulu! Aloha to you both! Though I hear a special someone in the crowd's got a Singaporean area code on their contact form... exotic!

[Retching can be heard from the crowd. It's deviantART user KIMITAMA.]

Our only international camper this year is Isiah Kingsley, from the far-off, distant land of QUÉBEC. But closer to home, we're happy to welcome Sadie Cohen, who lives a mere 30-minute drive from our campgrounds!

Our oldest and wisest (hyuck) camper is Lucas Cho, who will be turning 17 in February of next year. Our youngest camper is Ava Concord, who is the tender age of 11!

Bentley Connly is our shortest camper at three foot nine. Our tallest camper is a whole two feet taller. His name is Jonas Porter at a staggering... five foot eleven! Guess I know who'll be helping me get things down from tall shelves! Ha ha! Nah, I'm just joshin' you, buddy. No, but seriously, Mel and I could use some help getting down some old boxes later. Come see me.

We have two pairs of twins joining us: Aelia and Loys Albrecht-Lynn, and Llewellyn and Lincoln Reyes. Then we've got two single twins with Ekho Walsh, without her twin brother, and Eugene Kim, without his twin sister. Is it just me or am I seeing double? Haha... tough crowd, tough crowd...

Speaking of pairs, we got two Isaiahs this year! If both of y'all could raise your hands, please -- yes! The shorter, blonde one is Isaiah H., and the taller dark-haired one is Isiah K. Make sense?

I've heard through the grapevine from you kiddos that a Zeke Kitzinger is managin' some kinda trading post things you kids do? Like baseball cards, right? That's neato!

The median age of campers this year is a middling 14.5! We've got a bit of a boy's club this year with two inbetweeners, twenty-one gents and twenty dames, which is a gosh darn shame! Looks like one of you boys will be short a dance partner! No duels on campgrounds, y'all hear me? ... Heh. Heh...

One final note, please: could Chase Bennett please bring his labelled medication up to the front of the bus WHEN I BLOW MY WHISTLE and only AFTER I have blown my whistle, that would be much appreciated.

WHEN I blow my whistle - which I am about to do - I would like everyone to SLOWLY, and IN AN ORDERLY LINE, please check out the CABIN LISTINGS. I do NOT want a mad stampede.

(( I want everyone to know that writing in Colin's voice gave me a rash. ))

As of this post, we have FOUR DAYS, NINE HOURS and TWENTY-SEVEN MINUTES until applications close. Excited? GOOD! Panicking? DON'T! Go through the checklist below to make sure you've done everything:

  • Is your application done?

  • Is the written template in your application's comments? (Please do this even if you have an externally linked bio!)

  • Is there NO BACKSTORY on the app? Not a trace? No childhood, no parental info, no nothing?

  • Have you clicked "Join our group" on the front page and put a link to your application into the request?

  • Is your character listed and ticked off on the Camp Roster? This indicates I have seen the application, and I can follow up if deviantART eats your join request (One Fear)

  • Have you read over the Google doc? In particular, have you reviewed the updated BOT PROMPTS, SHOP and RULES & GUIDELINES?

TOO LONG; DIDN'T READ:

don't include backstory, a robot will make prompts for you if you want, talk to everyone in the discord server because we're all sexy, if you have a question check the google doc first <3 i love u all don't forget to be urself and have fun <3

FRIDAY, MAY 28, 2020 12:46 PM

The gates... have OPENED

The Discord server can now be joined. Join requests are open on the deviantART page. They will remain open until Sunday, June 21 at midnight Eastern Time. For details about getting all parts of your application together, please refer to the Camper Creation journal. Thank you to everyone's ongoing interest, and I hope to meet your kid soon!

Standard code of conduct applies. This is a group effort. Please do your bit towards ensuring this is a fun, respectful place for everyone!

  1. This group is generally PG-13. Drugs, alcohol, teen hanky-panky and off-color adult humor is OK in moderation. Obviously, R18 is off the table.

  2. Denote out-of-character speech in the dedicated channel or by using parentheses. LIKE THIS ))

  3. Beliefs and actions expressed by characters do not represent the views of their roleplayer.

  4. A roleplay group’s activity is a two-way street: if you're bored, reach out for some headcanons! You can also let the moderator know if you want to do something you enjoyed in a previous group.

  5. Reference art used on character sheets does not have to be your own, but must be fair use and/or not copyrighted. For more information, please see this link on fair use. Please note that a roleplay group is not “public benefit” or an “educational purpose.” (Sorry!)

  6. If a situation arises that makes you feel uncomfortable and discussing it with the concerned parties does not resolve it, please come drop kimitama a line. I promise I don’t bite, and I’m here to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable! :)

Activities

7 min read

The week we are currently on will be highlighted. These activities can be done at anytime, but do keep in mind we will be focusing on only one from week to week. There are no deadline on submissions because this isn’t college. Also, subject to change if you guys want to do something else (movie night, D&D campaign, etc!)

Week 1: Orientation Icebreaker

Your parents have dropped you off, you’ve moved into your bunk, and now it’s time for every kid’s favourite activity… forced socialization with people you don’t know! You cool cats should know the first person to fill out the bingo sheet gets… a prize!

Roleplay prompt: Human Bingo

You will get linked a “bingo sheet” with different qualities on it (has a pet, has siblings, and so forth.) In-character, by roleplaying, you must find one other active player who fits one of the squares. You can only use someone’s name once.* * Cheating is allowed, but the counsellor may be suspicious of you filling in “Countess Boochie Flagrante” for every square.

Art prompt: Name Tag

Make your name tag, campers! We want to know what your name is! So sorry if we like, mispronounce it, dudes.

Art prompt: Camp Photo

It’s group photo time! Give us a full body reference of your OC using this height chart for porportions. Post it in #arts-and-crafts as a transparent .png and kimitama will add it to a group shot. It’ll be cute. No, it’ll be cute. IT’LL BE CUTE

Week 2: Campfire

Stay out past your usual curfew and get way too hyper on eating marshmallows unsupervised… because it’s time for campfire! Okay, Timmy, I’m serious, stop poking the fire, stop poking it-

Writing prompt: Creative Genius

Submit a piece of creative writing your character would plausibly write. This can be a ghost story, poem, university dissertation, stand-up comic routine, profanity-riddled tirade...

Art prompt: Skit

Draw a storyboard of a skit or play your OC is forced to participate in at campfire, whether willing or not.

Roleplay prompt: No Sleep

Roleplay out either your writing or art submission in the Discord server. You may also react to someone else’s submission. Are you a scaredy-cat? Unimpressed? Competitive?

Roleplay prompt: Freeze!

Ah, the enemy of every socially anxious child: improv games! Two characters will start roleplaying a random scene (a hospital drama, a sci-fi chase scene, whatever you want!). At any point, a third character can shout “FREEZE!”, remove one of the characters, and carry on where it left off.

Week 3: Karaoke Contest

Roleplay prompt: Karaoke!

By ‘karaoke,’ I mean, ‘it’s time to abuse Groovebot.’ Want to do the Discord revenge meme? Knock yourself out. Want to sing inappropriate and wrong lyrics to a song so that Colin the Counselor has to march up and grab the microphone from you? Yes. You may go in groups or solo. Please type as many lyrics as you can. Roll the dice to see how good you are at singing. I want to be entertained. In order to use Groovebot, go into the #bot channel, and type !play [URL]. It will be added to a queue.

Art prompt: What’s in my pockets?

What’s in your grubby bundle of love’s inventory? Draw the stuff they carry around with them!

Art prompt: Animal Crossing Meme

Everyone’s playing that animal crossing game look let’s just do this alright [unzips]

Week 4: Capture the Flag

You will be split into two teams by Kimitama. We will play on Saturday, July 25. Each team must…

Vote on a team name.

Determine where to hide your flag. A Google Spreadsheet will be provided. Much like battleship, you must give me a coordinate on your half on which to hide your flag (eg, E4).

Determine where to rig your traps. You may have 2.

Determine where to station your team. You can start your players on any coordinates you want. We recommend at least one guard for your flag, but

The object of the game is to locate (through guesswork) the location of the opposing team’s flag, and bring it back over the boundary line without being caught or tagged. You will accomplish this by a combination of roleplaying and marking where you are on the Google spreadsheet with a filled colour.

Art prompt: Cabin

What does your bunk look like, now that you’re all cozy with your bunkmates?

Week 5: Treasure Hunt Obstacle Course

TBA

Art/roleplay prompt: Laundry Mix-Up

The laundry truck is not infallible, and has accidentally given you another camper’s clothes. This is a clothes swap meme, but can also be roleplayed.

Art Prompt: Quizzing

Some trashy magazines have been circulating throughout the bunks, talking about what animal you are, if he’s cheating, which Sex and the City character you are, and so forth. Based on the results of one of the following quizzes, draw the following:

Week 6: Night Hike

Sure, this place is pretty cool beans by day, but have you ever seen it by night? The counselors have insisted on taking you out past your bedtime around Pioneer Lake. Everybody gets a baggie full of cashews, raisins, stale M&Ms and shredded coconut.

Along the way, you’ll have to fight boredom, swamps, menacing tree roots, and Counselor Colin, who won’t shut up about the moon.

Week 7: Mafia/Group’s Choice

The game Mafia unless someone else comes up with something better before I do. YAYYY OPEN FORMAT GROUPS.

Week 8: Overnight canoe trip to Possum Island

A tried and true tradition: the Camp Pioneer rite of passage of… taking a camping trip under supervision of teenagers! With the help of your chosen partner, the two of you will get in a canoe and make the gruelling trip to Possum Island. There, you will pitch your own tent, cook your own dinner, and hopefully survive the night. There’s lots of ghost stories revolving around Possum Island. Camp veterans love to claim that “some girl totally died there, back in the ‘70s.” Or was it the ‘80s? Then there’s the B.S. about it being a “Native American burial ground,” which doesn’t ever seem to start any conversations about American colonization, much to the counsellor’s disappointment.

In order to pass this grueling trial, you must roleplay at least three objectives:

  • Canoeing to the island, two posts each. Roll at least twice.

  • What are you having for dinner, and how are you cooking it? Sure, fires are possible, but sometimes it’s safer to eat a cold Pop-Tart.

  • What kind of shelter are you sleeping under? Did you bring a tent? Maybe a tarp? Or are you going to rough it and sleep under the stars?

  • And lastly… entertainment! How do you sleep? What do you do before bed, to pass the time? (There’s definitely no cell reception in the middle of the lake.)

Week 9: Farewell Bonfire

Yet another summer at Camp Pioneer has come to an end! Friendships were made. Milestones were accomplished. Childhood trauma was solidified. As the zoomers say, “like this if you cry everytime!” ;_;

Art prompt: Friendship Bracelet

Got a best friend? Trade bracelets… but show me what they look like. For the sentimentality of it all.

Writing prompt: Camp Letters

Write a post-camp letter to your boys.

Roleplay prompt: Bonfire Party

This is your last chance, folks. Want to set off all the fireworks over the lake? Wanted to kiss that person all summer? Want to throw hands before your arch-rival goes back to Westchester? Do it now! What’s Colin gonna do? Send you home? Lol
